Break Away have been coming to Wiston Lodge for several years and in early March enjoyed a great week of activities – and some lovely spring weather. The Edinburgh-based group supports carers by providing respite trips and residentials, and the young adults with Break Away have got to know our staff and instructors well.
In a busy week, the group took part in a welly walk, night line, high and low ropes, bush craft, den-building, archery and drumming. They also enjoyed cooking lessons and chilling out.
As they wrapped up their visit, here’s some of what the participants said about their favourite moments: “I liked the cooking, high ropes and taking pictures.”
“Making sticky toffee pudding and burgers.”
“The bedrooms, and the food!”
“Thank you Alan and Vicky!”
And about what they learned: “Communication skills, learning new skills, listening to people and confidence.”
“Brilliant teamwork from all.”
“I was happy to take part in all the activities and develop my skills.”
“I learned how to help each other and about leadership.”
Here are some picture highlights from the week.
