Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Pilot Scheme Funding Awarded from Awards for All and Big Lottery

Wiston Lodge has just received a £9851 grant from the Big Lottery Fund through its Awards for All funding programme. The funding will allow us to launch a timely, collaborative project, “Going for Gold!” with the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) and regional secondary schools’ Additional Support Needs (ASN) units. The project will empower participants to work towards attaining their DofE Bronze Award while improving their outdoor survival skills and personal, social and emotional development skills. Under this programme’s auspices, Wiston Lodge will organise four five-day courses in 2017 and 2018, with scheduled activities taking place at Wiston and in a select landscape (either the Southern Uplands or the Pentlands). Says Pete McIntyre, Wiston Lodge’s Activities Coordinator, “Thanks to Big Lottery and Awards for All, we will be able to give these young people a fun and highly worthwhile outdoor experience. Wiston Lodge and DofE are natural partners with this exciting project and we can’t wait to get started!”
